Tips and strategies for success in ASP (file download)
The attached document contains tips that were generated during the 2017 and 2016 postdoc retreats. Experienced postdocs answered questions from first-year postdocs and added tips and stategies during the discussions.

Committees/Service
ASP postdoctoral fellows provide ongoing advice to the Director and organize the Thompson Lectures and the Research Reviews. Other service options include acting as the ASP representative on the Early Career Scientist Assembly steering committee and in supporting the Fellows Networking Committee. Membership on these Committees evolves from year to year as the fellows come and go from the program.

Thompson Lecture Series
In 1998 ASP established the "Thompson Lecture Series," named in honor of Phil Thompson who founded the Advanced Study Program and was NCAR's first associate director. Under this program, prominent scientists are brought to NCAR for short visits that promote interaction between them and the postdoctoral fellows and other junior scientists at NCAR.

National Postdoctoral Association (NPA)
The Advanced Study Program is a sustaining member of the National Postdoctoral Association (NPA). The NPA has a content-rich website that is full of opportunities and advice for those who are currently postdocs and for those who plan to be postdocs. You may access it here: http://www.nationalpostdoc.org.
In addition, you are eligible for free affiliate membership: any individual affiliated with your institution may join the NPA for free. Please note, applicants must use a UCAR email address, i.e., yourlogin@ucar.edu.
